U.S. Embassy Marks Independence Day

– PRESS RELEASE –

U.S. Embassy Marks Independence Day

On June 28, U.S. Embassy Luxembourg marked the 247th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America with a celebration at the Ambassador’s residence. The event was attended by the Embassy’s official contacts in Luxembourg’s government, business, academia, and civil society organizations. At this year’s celebration, the United States also marked 120 years of diplomatic relations with Luxembourg.

U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg, Tom Barrett, remarked:

“The United States was founded on the idea that we are all created equal. On Independence Day, we celebrate but also reflect on the many sacrifices made over the last 247 years to protect that fundamental ideal of equality and our freedom to exercise it. Our shared belief in equality, freedom, and liberty forged the friendship between the United States and Luxembourg and has guided our relationship for the last 120 years.  Those ideals will continue to steer our shared vision for the future.”
