Dear AMCHAM members, partners, and friends,
I am delighted to welcome you to our 3 March AMCHAM digital Newsletter. As always, we are very pleased to help and support you!
This week we have asked the Ambassadors from the three front lines Eastern European NATO nations of Romania, Poland, and the Czech Republic to write essays for us explaining the perspective of their countries regarding the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. I am honored to present to you their essays and share the feelings in their hearts that they so vividly and passionately share. We in this part of Europe do not have the same recent history, fears, and perspective as the Ambassadors from these countries, and it is important and very instructive for us to see the world through their eyes. My sincere thanks to these three Ambassadors for sharing their hearts and dreams with us.
I am also pleased to have companion essays from the American,British, Irish, French & Belgian Ambassadors. While the NATO alliance rules create a defensive alliance of mutual support, they also prohibit individual NATO member states from sending troops to fight in Ukraine. Still, the US and Britain have deployed substantial troops on the ground in the Baltic and Eastern European countries already in the alliance, along with fighter and bomber planes and battleships. These deterrent actions and the transfer of military weapons and humanitarian supplies are strongly helping Ukraine defend itself. The Sanctions that we are collectively implementing to destroy the Russian economy show a collective resolve not seen for quite some time.
In addition to news about this military invasion crisis, we are also pleased to continue to offer local events and information on topics of interest. On Monday of next week, we will host Mary Carey as our guest of honor for an ABAL networking lunch at Cercle Munster. Like me, I am sure that many of you have dreamed about writing and publishing a book, either fiction or on some subject we are passionate and expert about. Mary has had the courage and devoted hard work to bring her dream alive by writing and publishing her first fiction book. Bravo Mary! I am delighted she has accepted my offer to come and tell you all she did, what challenges she has overcome, what mistakes she has made, and how she has made this success. This will be an exciting and inspirational event. Join us for a great lunch, great networking, and a super guest speaker presentation by registering here!
Next week, we will partner with our friends at PWC and the LACC in New York for our annual international women’s day event starting at 16:30 on IWD. Our list of inspiring speakers includes the Luxembourg Ambassador to the US speaking to us from Washington and local Luxembourg-based guests of the highest quality. Thank you, dear friends, for allowing us to serve you.
With respect and my very best regards,
