Dear AMCHAM members, partners and friends,
Monday evening we hosted our best ever AMCHAM New Year’s reception! 225 guests joined us at 19 Avenue de la Liberté in the Spuerkeess headquarters building for an evening of friendship and fun. Our immense and most sincere thanks to Françoise Thoma, the CEO of Spuerkeess for welcoming us into her fabulous premises and to Italo di Lorenzo from Amazon for sponsoring the superb catering!
After a warm welcome by Françoise Thoma, this Gala New Year’s reception evening commenced with a perfect very wide-ranging speech from Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister for Cooperation, Xavier Bettel explaining the state of the world, thanking the US for its historical strong support for Luxembourg and applauding the international business community (and AMCHAM!) for their vital contributions which have enabled Luxembourg be the strong success story that it has become.
Our Deputy Prime Minister’s speech was followed by an equally very strong and warm speech by US Ambassador Tom Barrett who explained how lucky he and all of us are to live and work in Luxembourg and to share the bounty and warmth of friendship of this wonderful small country in the heart of Europe which make such a strong contribution to make a better world. He likewise acknowledged and strongly committed the United States to continue to be the powerful and loyal friend and strong supporter of Luxembourg as it has been for so many years.
It was my personal pleasure to finish the presentations by sharing my own life story for coming to Luxembourg and my happiness to have the opportunity to be spending this, perhaps last period of my life, in service to others with special thanks for having the opportunity to be the AMCHAM Chairman and CEO!
Team AMCHAM and I sincerely thank all of our guests for sharing this wonderful evening with us and being part of our AMCHAM family! Special thanks to Bibi Wintersdorf for offering her great KACHEN cookbook magazine and Geoff Thompson from The Chronicle for offering his recently published guide to working and living in Luxembourg as post-event “goody bag” takeaways!
We hope you all enjoy the photos of the event which follow!
As the old Chinese expression says, you are blessed if you have the opportunity to live in exciting times! And we all certainly are living that excitement in the present circumstances. I wish you all strength, wisdom and courage to make strong success and live a life of happiness during the coming year!
We are very pleased to offer you an interview this week with David Arendt, one of the most important native Luxembourg influencers involved in the International business community of Luxembourg. We have asked David to share with you his analysis of the current business situation in Luxembourg, as well as his thoughts and recommendations for overcoming the challenges we face. Please enjoy his excellent editorial interview!
On 1 March, we are delighted to announce the next edition of the Winter Carnival Party at the Hilton with music by Marco Boesen and his team (click HERE to register).
Another event which we are pleased to take part in is the upcoming (seventh!) International Women’s Day event held at PwC Crystal Park. Please save this date and check back often for updates.
