Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your professional background?
I feel incredibly honored to serve as the United States Ambassador to Luxembourg. I have spent my career bringing people together to make a difference, and I am excited to carry that same collaborative spirit to my work here. Before joining the State Department, I built my career in a way that cut across several sectors, including business, media, sports, and entertainment. I have been a strategic advisor, an investor, and someone who spent a lot of time working directly with founders, especially women founders, supporting them in their efforts to get their ideas off the ground and scale their companies. I have also been active in the venture community, judging pitch competitions and speaking on industry panels, because I wanted to stay close to where innovation is happening.
I started out at Bob Woolf Associates, my father’s sports and entertainment law firm in Boston. It was an extraordinary environment. We represented more than 500 clients, from Larry Bird and Joe Montana to Larry King and New Kids on the Block. Later on, I launched the firm’s literary division, which developed several bestselling autobiographies.
I have had a very diverse career that has given me a unique perspective which shapes how I approach diplomacy today. Whether I was negotiating in the private sector or advising entrepreneurs, the core has always been the same: creating value and making a difference.
And now, as Ambassador, I bring that same approach to Luxembourg. My focus is strengthening partnerships, expanding cooperation, and working closely with people and institutions here to deliver concrete results for both of our countries. The United States has unmatched networks, innovation capacity, and global reach, and my goal is to put those strengths to work alongside Luxembourg to advance our shared priorities and deliver results.
What factors led you to accept an appointment to Luxembourg in particular?
Luxembourg is a special place for the United States. Our relationship is rooted in something very real – our shared sacrifices during the Second World War, and the bonds that were built when American service members fought, and many died, on Luxembourg soil. That history is not just symbolic. It forms a foundation of trust and respect that continues today.
At the same time, Luxembourg is one of the most dynamic, forward-looking economies in Europe. It has successfully reinvented itself again and again: from agriculture to steel, from steel to financial services, and now to space, and cutting-edge innovation sectors. That kind of agility is rare. And it is inspiring.
Luxembourg is a partner the United States can build with for the long term. Where we can advance shared economic interests and new opportunities in areas that are strategically important for the future of both of our economies.
So, for me, it was not just an attractive post, it was a strategic one. Luxembourg is geographically small, but a powerhouse in several of the sectors that will define tomorrow’s economy. And when you match that with the United States ecosystems that take innovation global, we have the potential to shape the future together.
What will be your main priorities during your tenure in Luxembourg?
When I look at Luxembourg, I see a country that embraces innovation, values principled partnerships and delivers results. That is the kind of environment where the United States thrives, and I cannot wait to get to work.
On the economic front, I want to partner with government and business leaders in both of our countries to unlock new opportunities, particularly in fast evolving areas like artificial intelligence, space, and fintech. These are sectors where Luxembourg and the United States are shaping the global agenda. I see real promise to deepen trade and investment ties, bring more American best-in-class exports and innovation into Luxembourg’s ecosystem, and expand opportunities for American companies to pilot ideas here that can profit the United States while scaling across Europe and beyond.
Defense and security cooperation will also be a major priority. The United States is committed to our collective defense and today’s threats require shared responsibility among all NATO Allies. I truly value Luxembourg’s commitment to strengthen its defense spending in line with NATO goals. I look forward to working closely with the government and Luxembourg’s rapidly developing defense sector to pursue new joint capabilities, advance solutions that actually address the threats we face, and support continued progress toward the 5 percent defense spending target.
And finally, I believe deeply in people-to-people ties. Cultural exchanges, student programs and business networks, these are the relationships that make our alliance real. They are what turns a policy into a partnership and what creates the next generation of Luxembourg American cooperation.
Our past is meaningful, and it connects us deeply, but the real opportunity is what comes next, and I am committed to doing my part to shape it.
If you had to identify one key objective you are determined to achieve while serving in Luxembourg, what would it be?
If I had to name one, it would be this: to make sure that the United States is a natural first choice for Luxembourg when it looks for partnership and expertise in the areas shaping tomorrow.
Whether that is artificial intelligence, space, fintech, cybersecurity, or defense, I want American companies, innovators, universities, and investors to be active and visible here, contributing solutions and creating value. And I also want Luxembourg businesses to look to the United States to help expand their operations and create American jobs. The United States brings unmatched expertise, scale, and networks that turn good ideas into global impact.
Luxembourg is strongly positioned to shape what comes next in Europe. My goal is to ensure the United States is part of that growth story, driving innovation and outcomes that benefit both of our economies.
If at the end of my time here, leaders in Luxembourg government, business, and education instinctively think “let’s do this with the United States” as their first choice, because they know the value the United States brings, then I will know I have done my job.
Is there anything in particular you would like to share with our AmCham community?
I want AmCham members to know that I see you as core partners in what we can accomplish here. You make the U.S.–Luxembourg relationship every single day through the partnerships you form, the talent you grow, the jobs you create, and the innovation you drive. You prove that cooperation between our countries delivers real value.
During my time here, I do not want to measure progress by the number of meetings on the calendar. I want to identify opportunities together and act on them, so that success is measured by tangible results. So, to all AmCham members, let’s partner with purpose. Let’s connect our strengths and networks, open more doors, and deliver outcomes that the United States and Luxembourg can both celebrate.
