Your team AMCHAM is still recovering from our wonderful Thanksgiving GALA Party last Friday evening at the DoubleTree Hilton! It was a special and splendid evening with such great friendship and connectivity on all sides and just about everything went according to our plans.
The beginning cocktail party was really hard to stop (which honestly was a very good sign!); the speeches by Ambassador Barrett and Minister Backes were warm, welcoming and complimentary; the soup and turkey dinner meal was tasty, warm and plentiful… and the dessert just hit the spot!
Just looking at the smiles and the crowds at the photo booth showed the shared affection of the crowd; and the Marco Boesen team did their usual magic with their instruments and singing. As every year, we were overwhelmed with Tombola prizes to give away…but there was still plenty of time for everyone to get tired on the dance floor. Our 206 attendees filled every available seat, and certainly appeared to enjoy themselves with their old (and new!) friends. Our sincere thanks to everyone attending, sponsoring, serving and sharing this special day with us!!! Really special thanks to Byborg for offering their fabulous “Million Roses” centerpieces on every table (each of which were taken home with greatest appreciation to be enjoyed throughout the coming year!). Next year, we will celebrate our AMCHAM 30th Anniversary with a special Thanksgiving at Cercle Cité on Friday, November 22. We hope to see as many as possible of you all with us!
We will be involved with three more events before the end of the year:
On 6 December we will host our second annual Financial Sector focused Christmas lunch with Claude Marx in the ballroom of the Hotel Royal (contact Daniel@amcham.lu).
On 13 December we will join the Luxembourg Times for an evening seminar explaining the issues and current status of the US political scene as we move towards the November 2024 US Presidential and National election. (Sign up HERE)
And, on Saturday 16 December, we will return to the DoubleTree Hilton for one more Gala Holiday Party featuring the Marco Boesen music team. We are pleased for this event to be joined by the British Luxembourg Society, ROMLUX and others from the international English-speaking communities here in Luxembourg! (sign up HERE)
While we are encouraged by the first actions of the new government, we commit to continue our advocacy and engagement with this new government to discuss and explain the needs of you all in business and the International community. Our focus will be positive: to serve and ensure the best interests of the economy of Luxembourg, in which you all play such an important role. We never ask for favors, but always have good reason to explain why the things our community seek are always in the best interests of ensuring the long term prosperity of this country we all are committed to, appreciate and love.
We are always happy to welcome new quality companies into Luxembourg, ask them why they have chosen Luxembourg and find out what they have to offer to continue to keep Luxembourg strong. Our feature interview for this Newsletter is the very strong new law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton. As we go into the Holiday season, we are very pleased to include on our website and in this Newsletter our Christmas catalog of special value offerings from our Member Benefits Club (MBC) partners. Several years ago, when Covid was keeping everyone at home and the local shops were having trouble getting customers, we launched this Club to help quality retail establishments gain and keep new customers (like you all!) on condition that the retailers give discounts to AMCHAM affiliated shoppers. Each AMCHAM company is eligible to get a certain number of free MBC cards to distribute to their employees and families (and extra cards can be purchased from AMCHAM at a reasonable price). This year we gifted MBC cards to all of our Thanksgiving attendees and encourage everyone with a card to use them to get discounts at the participating local retail partners.
