Dear Members and Friends,
Welcome to the 30 September issue of your AMCHAM Newsletter.
I am delighted in this issue to welcome the CEO of clearstream, Philip Seyll, for an interview to share with our readers his experiences during the Covid crisis and its impact on his company. Clearstream, a key member of the Deutsche Boerse Group, is a vital player in the Luxembourg (and global) financial sector ecosystem. Welcome Mr Seyll and thank you for explaining how this global pandemic impacted your company, the steps you and your colleagues took to continue to function during the crisis and the new normal you and your employees have implemented as a result of your experiences. In reading Mr Seyll’s comments, I particularly noted the critical importance he and his team placed on getting the human aspects of adjusting to a new normal right as he, his team and all of the clearstream employees went through this experience together. Despite the hardships and challenges it looks like clearstream, as a result of teamwork and smart policies carefully implemented, has emerged stronger from the crisis than when they went into it.
Getting the soft skill aspects of management right is no easy task and we have two upcoming events devoted to aspects of that challenge, one in New York featuring Claire Steichen and our partners at LACCNYC, and the other here in Luxembourg with our partner Mind Forrest. I am sure you will enjoy both events!
While I make every effort to avoid politics, I have been motivated to write a thank you letter to our Luxembourg Mayor to compliment her on her steadfast efforts to protect the inhabitants of our city from violence, robbery and drugs by hiring private security personnel. Please let me know if you support and like what I have said to her.
I am delighted to announce that Melanie Delannoy is assuming the chairpersonship of our Space Committee digital initiative. We are really pleased and excited for Melanie to lead this effort and think that AMCHAM, with its US origin, is ideally positioned to build bridges for Space between the US and Luxembourg, and indeed the rest of the world. Our call for candidates for this committee (and indeed for all of the AMCHAM committees) continues, so please contact us to become more active in your favorite sector of activity!
As always, I am happy to talk with any of you all who are not yet AMCHAM members to discuss and explore ways we can help you become the best you can be! Join us!
With respect and very best wishes,
Paul Michael Schonenberg
Chairman and CEO
