Dear Members and Friends,
Last week we spent a good bit of time encouraging people to do their last signing up for the municipal elections. My special thanks to ING for their warm welcome and hosting of our election Town Hall meeting, political guests Lydia Polfer (DP), Gabriel Boisante (LSAP), François Benoy (Déi Gréng) and Serge Wilmes (CSV) vying to become Mayor of Luxembourg city, our partners from the Luxembourg Times, the British and Romanian business chambers and, of course our members and guests! The dialogue was rich and engaging. My single regret is that we did not have sufficient time to present all of the questions from our audience. But at least we gave it a good try!
We intend to continue this election promotion and information sharing through the communal election date and then shift focus to the national election in October. To be clear, AMCHAM is non-partisan, but pro-business. We trust our expat and internationally focused business readers to make smart decisions and encourage them to do that by sharing information from across the full spectrum of political parties. This week we feature an interview from Roy Reding, one of the strongest and most articulate leaders of the ADR political party and a long-standing member of the Chamber of Deputies. Please pay good attention to his interview and clear statement of the values and ideas that he and his party will do their best to promote if they are given the support of the people in the upcoming local and national elections.
Over this past weekend, I had the pleasure to attend a 50th anniversary of the AirTech company, one of the largest and most successful of the American affiliated manufacturing companies here in Luxembourg. This company is absolutely world-class in their field of activities and a very strong supporter of Luxembourg. I was pleased to be included in their celebration and look forward to interviewing the founder Bill Dahlgren, his wife and their son Jeff Dahlgren, the current CEO. They have a very powerful success story to share and it will be our pleasure to bring that story to you as soon as we are able to arrange the interview.
I am very glad that more and more of our members are asking us to share their business success stories, lessons learned and other valuable business information. Thanks to all of you for being such a helpful, sharing community. If we all help one another, we all will profit and benefit!
With respect and my very best wishes,
Paul Schonenberg
