Dear AmCham Members, Partners and Friends,
Welcome to the 204th edition of your AmCham Digital Newsletter!
Last week, we were very busy with two of our favorite annual events!
Thursday afternoon AmCham joined PwC and Baker McKenzie for the 9th edition of International Women’s Day presented under the theme of ‘Give To Gain’ at the PwC Crystal Park headquarters in Cloche d’Or. My compliments to Vinciane Istace from PwC, and Sabrina Bodson from Baker&McKenzie for the 9th year they have organized this event with AmCham. Well known Luxembourg and EU political leader, Nicolas Schmit, eloquently and strongly traced the history and progress of the women’s rights movement in Europe and Luxembourg comprehensively acknowledging the progress which has been made and the challenges which remain. His keynote address was followed by a powerful panel discussion composed of Agnieszka Zajac, Managing Partner at Odgers Berndtson Luxembourg, Marie-Hélène Massar, CEO of Foyer Group and Sara Macedo, Chief Financial Officer at Luxair all expertly moderated by Mary Carey from PwC. Following the Q&A session, I was personally pleased, as has become our custom, to summarize the key points and make some closing remarks before we all moved on to a robust networking session with refreshments. With over 200 women and men joining this event, we all were pleased to share a good successful interaction together.
Friday evening , the AmCham team was joined by US Ambassador Feinberg and her key team members, British Ambassador Joanne Olivier and a crowd of 160 business leaders and guests to spend the joyous evening together at the DoubleTree by Hilton Luxembourg for our annual Winter Carnival. Wearing fancy dress, costumes or being dressed all in black, we all came ready for a party in a great atmosphere with wonderful party food and drinks and the cruise ship dance music so wonderfully provided by Marco Boesen with his wife and solo singer. Please enjoy the accompanying photo galleries and the article from Chronicle. Our special thanks to our Diamond Sponsor LetterOne for their very generous support which enabled us to put on this event at such a high standard of excellence. Out thanks too to British Ambassador Joanne Olivier and Jim Kent for wonderfully singing a first anniversary celebratory song to Nasir Zubairi and his wife Jennifer Crisman! Likewise, our strong thanks to Ambassador Feinberg for her very generous and kind engagement with all our attendees and for her warm impromptu speech! Special recognition to James O’Neil for winning the prize for the best costume at the event! As the comments on social media have already shown, this was a great, very happy and fun event! Please make note to register to come and join us next year!
As always, we share with you in this newsletter member news, MBC updates, future event opportunities and a wonderful food recipe from BiBi Wintersdorf and her team. Enjoy!
