Dear AmCham Members, Partners, and Friends,
Welcome to your 5 February 2026 issue 200 of our AmCham.lu Newsletter!
In addition to our normal reporting of member and partner news, upcoming events, Member Benefits Club (MBC) special offers, and our recipe of the week from Bibi Wintersdorf, we are very pleased this week to publish additional news and a photo compilation from last week’s well attended New Year’s Reception. This year was our sixth occasion to enjoy the hospitality of Spuerkeess at their magnificent headquarters location called “19 Liberté”, and our third year to enjoy the networking, hospitality, food, and drinks generously provided by Amazon.
I stand with all of our members and guests to gratefully thank Spuerkeess and Amazon for their amazing, deeply appreciated support, which enabled us to put on this wonderful, fully sold-out annual AmCham event!
Following a warm welcome from Simône Van Schouwenburg on behalf of the Spuerkeess team (Big thanks, Simône!!!), we were very honored and fortunate to be joined by our two keynote speakers, Claude Wiseler, President of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies, and our United States Ambassador to Luxembourg, Stacey Feinberg.
Mr. Wiseler was eloquent and very informative, explaining the psychological frame of mind and the deep historical mindset that has molded the Luxembourg native population to feel strongly and embrace a way of business based on a preferred collaboration model, which always strives to achieve of the greatest possible consensus, evolution rather than radical change, and the rule of law. Seeing the world through these eyes, our audience now much better understands how differently the world looks from the perspective of a small country compared to a large one! Mr. Wiseler also very kindly explained the principal issues on the Chamber of Deputies’ agenda and their current positions on those issues. All of this information was very helpful to our business-focused, largely expat audience.
In her remarks, Ambassador Feinberg forcefully made the case for the historically strong partnership between the United States and Luxembourg, which has been so mutually beneficial both before and, certainly, after the Second World War. She has certainly hit the ground running during her first three months here in Luxembourg, becoming well-known and appreciated very quickly for her passionate embrace of hard work and her enthusiastic, high-quality engagement with all levels of government business and society!
We all left this formal portion of the program convinced of the mutual benefit and sincere friendship between the United States and Luxembourg. Likewise, our business community and expat-focused left the speeches encouraged by the appreciation and respect shown by our two speakers and their governments for the contributions, needs, and interests of the international business community represented by our AmCham members!
I was pleased during my closing remarks to spend a few moments speaking about the AmCham agenda for 2026, dedicated to problem-solving and lobbying on behalf of the international expat business community, their companies, and their families. We closed this portion of the program by showing the video developed by our marketing committee which showcases our soon-to-launch MBC telephone application which will be given to all AmCham-affiliated employees and their partners to allow them to shop with discounts at an ever-expanding number of quality retail partners, and even to have full access to a digital library with self-improvement personal learning content. Our big thanks to Laszlo Czero for his help building this application for your use.
In this regard and on behalf of our AmCham MBC program, we are very pleased in this newsletter to invite you all to join our Super Bowl party which will take place on a really big screen in Howald at Strike Luxembourg bowling (the great location where we have done our Summer Beach Party!), starting at 18:30 hours on Sunday until 03:00 hours Monday morning! The cost of entry is 20 euros per person and this entry fee will be credited to your food and drinks bill. If you are a sports fan (or a party person!), this should be a really fun event. We hope you will join us and look forward to sharing this evening of fun! Please see further details in our events section.
Last but not least, our annual Winter Carnival Party is announced and we only have space for 180 seats, so don’t wait too long to register and get your costumes ready! Please see further details in our events section.
During the subsequent networking walking-dinner engagement, the conversations were lively, positive and very warm! This event moves us very well and very positively into a new year, which hopefully will bring happiness, good health, prosperity, and success to our members, families, and companies!
We in the AmCham team commit to working with all of you to achieve this outcome and to do our best to leave no one behind!
Please enjoy all of these photos and reportage as well as all of the rest of our 200th Newsletter content!
My respect and very best wishes,
Paul Schonenberg
