Dear AmCham Members, Partners and Friends,
It is not at all easy to start, run and survive as a small/midsized business, especially one which is self-made! Our AmCham readers will certainly be interested to hear about our guest interview partner this week to better understand her journey as an entrepreneur! I am very happy to interview this week a successful self-made businesswoman, Bibi Wintersdorf. Thank you, Bibi, for sharing with our readers who you are, why and how you have done what you have done setting up and running your business, what you have learned along the way and what advice you would give to those starting out on the same voyage of discovery.
On October 23th, I was pleased to join a panel discussion hosted by the Indian Business Chamber of Luxembourg at Deloitte to discuss the dynamic success and future challenges faced by the Indian business community living and working here in Luxembourg. My compliments to them for this excellent event!
I am pleased to announce that we are fully sold out for our traditional Thanksgiving celebration at Cercle Cité. At the same time, for those of you who have come to us too late, please know that we have established a waiting list and will be happy to note your interest in the event that some of our existing registered guests have last minute changes of plans and release their seats back to us. Please contact Daniel@amcham.lu to register.
In the meantime, we are very proud of our upcoming ABAL lunch in our annual partnership with the British Chamber of Commerce to present Laura Foulds, the CEO of Analie Tax & Accounting on Wednesday, November 13th at the DoubleTree by Hilton Luxembourg with her wonderful explanation on how to minimize personal income tax liabilities here in Luxembourg by utilizing all of the allowable government tax offset and reduction schemes. You can register for the event in the event announcements later-on in this Newsletter! Come join us!!!
This same week we also will host a morning breakfast to AmCham members, friends and our Member Benefits Club partners at Pizza hut in the city center featuring Lex Delles our Minister of the Economy. Sign up below and join us to better understand from Minister Delles the dynamics of the retail sector of Luxembourg and what the government is doing to help this sector. Likewise, this is a great opportunity to meet the retailers of our Member Benefits Program who give MBC card holders 10% (and more) price discounts when shopping in their stores! Registration details are below.
On the 15th and 16th of November, I will be working all weekend at the American Stand at the Bazar International de Luxembourg ladling out hot chili (made from a 1,000 year old recipe originally developed by elves in the forests in the north of Luxembourg!). Please stop by and say hello … and buy this great chili to eat or take home!
Also, at the end of the month, we will have our annual review of Transatlantic Trade and Investment evening conference at Deloitte in Cloche d’Or where we will host the American Ambassador, Mr. Tom Barrett, and our colleagues from AmCham EU to explain all the dynamics of Transatlantic Trade and Investment between the US and Europe which have so benefited both the EU and the US! With the US being the third biggest investor in Luxembourg with special focus on the Luxembourg financial and digital sectors of activity, the US plays a major role ensuring the prosperity of Luxembourg. We are pleased to offer this evening event at no cost as a public service. Please join us for the presentation and the networking which will follow. Further details and the sign-up access are in events below.
In addition to her interview, Bibi has, as every week, given us a terrific food recipe for you to make and enjoy with family and friends.
Over the last few weeks I have been invited to participate in the interview in various print and broadcast media. I have tried to help, when asked about the status of the U.S. elections.
If you are interested in understanding the U.S. election system’s voting dynamics and issues, links to these interviews will be made available on our AmCham in the Press page.
Now that the US election voting has concluded, we are busily analyzing the impact and will feature report on this next week.
As every week, I thank you for your patronage and support. With respect and our very best wishes,
Paul Schonenberg
