Dear AMCHAM Colleagues and friends,
This past Friday, I had one of the best evenings of the year! With 270 guests, I had the privilege of hosting the 2022 AMCHAM Thanksgiving Gala at Cercle Cité. The room, with its red chairs and drapes and the matching Million Roses floral tributes on every table (Thank you, Byborg!), took everyone’s breath away with a unique elegance. Domaines Vinsmoselle partnered with us to provide their best wines and never left a glass empty all evening. The Goeres Group kindly sponsored their delicious homemade ice cream from a charming, wheeled cart all evening (thank you, Artur Sosna!). Everyone had great fun making frequent use of the photo booth for outrageous group photos to take home with them. Our long-term musical partners Marco Boesen, his wife, and his excellent extra singer delivered a perfect audio system for the speeches by US Ambassador Thomas Barrett and Finance Minister Yuriko Backes… and perfect mood music during the early evening, followed by the best sound and beat to kick up your heals and dance at the end of the evening (Thank you, Marco et al., for our great long term partnership together!).
The active participation of our AMCHAM members, partners, and visitors made the event exceptional. After extending a warm welcome to every one of our guests, I was finally permitted to ascend the stairs and into a friendly cocktail reception. Partnership, camaraderie, and, dare I say, love! It was like spending the evening with the nicest families and closest friends! It was simply outstanding.
My sincere gratitude to our members who so kindly contributed for sponsored tables to help us cover our expenses. We express our special appreciation to PM-International, Intertrust, PWC, State Street, Byborg, Maples, Mediahuis, and Revantage!
I likewise express my gratitude and appreciation to Ambassador Barrett and Minister Backes for their outstanding speeches and social engagement with our guests. We are so lucky to have them and their service!
Lastly, we thank our partners who gave us great tombola prizes (please see the accompanying article for details!)
According to the social media remarks, we succeeded (all of us together!) in creating a night we all will long remember… at least until next year when we try to do it again!
We are pleased to present our end-of-assignment interview with just departed Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Okuyama Jiro, for our interview this week. He and his wife put all their energy into their assignment and did a great job representing their country. They will be missed…
