Dear AmCham Members, Partners and Friends,
Welcome to your AmCham Newsletter issue 177!
My sincere thanks to those of you who have already written personal notes and letters to me congratulating me and AmCham for writing and sending our letter to President Trump advocating against the closure of the US Embassy in Luxembourg. I am both honored and pleased to have your agreement, compliments and thanks in support of this letter which I spent the entire Easter weekend writing (because I thought it was the right thing to do!). For those who might have missed the letter, you can find it here. Please feel free to write to me (Paul@amcham.lu) with any comments, suggestions or critiques.
Last week, I was pleased to be an honored guest joining the Lux-Ukraine organization (LUkraine asbl) at their Cercle Cité Gala. This event was a fund raiser to support wounded Ukrainian soldiers recovering from serious amputations and other injuries sustained while fighting for the freedom of their country. The six soldiers present at the event shared powerful stories which touched every attendee.
I likewise thank the attendees and sponsors who are making such a success of our After Work Drinks (AWD) initiative. We are glad you all are enjoying this new form of networking! We likewise welcome your ideas and suggestions for future events in this format. Please see our currently planned upcoming events later in this Newsletter.
Our interview this week is with Virginie Todesco, the lead Luxembourg based representative of our long-term member, Fragomen.
Virginie and her company are legal experts especially focused on the subject of expat relocation. With the world becoming ever more complicated, there are constantly increasing challenges confronting employers and employees who seek to relocate key personnel and their families from one country to another. I am pleased to share some of these challenges (and solutions) with you all and thank Virginie and her colleagues for their expertise and the good work they do.
During our AmCham Real Estate Committee Spring Conference & Networking BBQ on Tuesday 13th May, we enjoyed a really good presentation, networking and BBQ evening which was kindly hosted by Schroeder & Associés at their headquarters in Kockelscheuer. Please view the pictures here.
Team AmCham has been busy organizing our upcoming events as we go into the Summer season. Please see and register to join us for these events as they are presented later on in this issue. And, please enjoy Bibi’s excellent recipe suggestion!
My respect and very kindest regards,
Paul Schonenberg
