Dear AmCham Members, Partners and friends,
I am very pleased to welcome you back to our AmCham Newsletter after our Easter holiday break!
Last week, we were especially delighted to partner with our friends from the Dutch AmCham to put on a Zoom conference on AI issues. Over time, we have been strengthening our pan-European AmCham network cooperation and this Zoom event is one outcome of this increased networking and cooperation. Within the AmCham European network we are more and more realizing that all of us have the same problems and challenges. We hope by sharing information and best practices to leverage our partnership for the benefit of our constituents. The 47 AmChams located in every EU country (plus in Russia, Ukraine, Israel and Turkey) constitute a united interconnected network all across Europe with all sharing the common goal of wanting and striving to promote prosperity and successful business environments within all of our countries for the benefit of our companies and our citizens…
One of the outcomes of this interactive connectivity between AmChams in different countries was demonstrated last week when we joined our friends at AmCham Holland to put on a joint AI webinar event. For this AI joint event, I was especially honored and pleased to welcome the Luxembourg -accredited and -based Dutch Ambassador Cees Bansema who brought as his guest the most active and involved female leader of the Dutch community, Mrs. Ricky Goslings into our AmCham office in Kirchberg to join and participate in this webinar with us. Thank you Mr. Ambassador for your introductory remarks!
Tonight we are hosting our second evening Real Estate event at the Bentley showroom in Gasperich for a discussion moderated by David Arendt on institutional investing in Real Estate. We are all well aware of the current downturn and challenges in this sector. But we also realize that every cloud can have a silver lining and, in this case, the current liquidity challenges have the potential to become opportunities for smart, savvy and brave institutional investors looking for opportunities to deploy their capital in new ways. We believe our guests will enjoy the rich conversation, and will love networking in the presence of such beautiful automobiles!
Our interview guest this week is Melanie Delannoy, the Chairperson of our AmCham Space Committee. One of the strongest female business leaders in Luxembourg, Mel has been a principle force driving the development of the Space activities based in Luxembourg. Enjoy her interview. This sector has much opportunity to continue to grow and Luxembourg has an early start to be the focal point for space activities in Europe via early leader SES Space & Defense and including all of the many and growing space companies who have chosen Luxembourg as their principle operating location.
As we come into the Spring season and beyond, we have offerings and plans that we hope you will enjoy … so continue to watch this space and make sure to sign up and be involved by joining us.
At the same time, but with less visibility, we are continuing our engagement with the government to further enhance the attractiveness of Luxembourg as a business location. The government is off to a positive start in this regard and the partnership cooperation between the CSV and DP indicates active involvement and early stage signs of progress improving the business environment. Be assured of our active involvement with the government to help, support and encourage better outcomes that ease the business burdens. Just as a reminder, you can find our Open Letter to the current new government. We welcome your critique, comments and suggestions and will not abandon our ongoing efforts to support and promote the best interests of the business community.
Thanks for your friendship, partnership and support!
With all respect and very best wishes,
Paul Schonenberg
