Dear AMCHAM members and partners,
Last year, both legislative and municipal elections were held in the Grand Duchy, two fundamental democratic processes that had a major impact on the political life of the country and the capital. I would like to thank all our citizens for the trust they placed in us as their political leaders, and I hope that the coming years will allow us to implement our joint projects and ideas to best meet the expectations of the electorate.
The country’s government has shown itself willing to move quickly to support industry developments, and this has fostered a very business-friendly environment. Major global players in information and communication technologies have made Luxembourg their European headquarters thanks to the city’s high-tech focus and the availability of a highly educated and well-motivated workforce.
Luxembourg is an established banking and investment fund centre – one that has proven itself adaptable to the fast-changing environment of the financial sector. The country’s well-respected regulatory system has given strength and stability to its financial industry, which continues to demonstrate its flexibility in reshaping itself to accommodate new regulations, products and services.
Together with AMCHAM, let’s strengthen the relations between Luxembourg and the United States in order to make 2024 the year of unification and solidarity. With the heart-wrenching headlines witnessed internationally last year, I can only hope that in 2024, we can find a path toward peace and that we will bear in mind the importance of a strong and united European Union, as well as keeping excellent connections with other international alliances.
In the name of the College of the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Luxembourg, wish you all a Happy New Year, filled with much professional and personal growth and success.
Lydie Polfer,
Mayor of Luxembourg City
