Dear AMCHAM Members, Partners and friends,
Last week was an especially busy week as everyone does end of the year business before embarking on their Christmas Holiday break. It is also a time of festive parties to thank staff, partners and customers. Last week I was pleased to attend three of these company get togethers: Altum’s excellent event at the Theatre restaurant, Citi Group’s wonderful dinner party at House 17, and PWC’s annual Christmas Market Party at their Crystal Palace! All three were very well done, rich networking opportunities which I thoroughly enjoyed. The week closed out with a superb British-Luxembourg Society Gala Dinner at Cercle Munster with Darren Robinson and his wife doing their normal excellent and high quality hosting!
I have found over the years that these social networking events offer a very rich opportunity to engage with existing friends, to make new acquaintances and to start the process of turning them into friends too! I actually get a lot of work done by attending these events and make a point to accept invitations whenever I can. Thank you all for including me on your invitation lists!
AMCHAM itself has been busy too! My compliments to Sonja Holper for her distribution of our Member Benefits Christmas catalog of discounted holiday gift ideas from our partners to our members. This catalog is also available on our website and in this newsletter later on. We are very proud to showcase and encourage our readership and our AMCHAM members to shop locally (and please do not be shy about using your MBC card when shopping with these excellent retail establishments).
Earlier this week, we were pleased to host our second annual Christmas lunch with Claude Marx at Le Royal Hotel. Our guests from the financial sector of Luxembourg very much appreciate Mr. Marx for all he has done heading up the CSSF. This agency is strong and tough, but fair. Thank you Mr. Marx for your leadership!
In commemoration of our recent Thanksgiving Gala our friends at Photobooth.lu are pleased to offer you a look back at a wonderful evening of fellowship and friendship and hijinks in front of the very popular attraction here. Can you find your picture? Just a heads-up, there are nearly 300 to scroll through…
Next week, on the evening of 13 December, we will join Mediahuis for a Luxembourg Times discussion and update with US Ambassador Tom Barrett and Thomas Spang, the Luxemburger Wort Correspondent in Washington, DC. The subject will be the current US political situation with a focus on the 2024 national elections. Please join us for this free event, but register quickly since only 50 seats are available (see details HERE).
On 16 December, we wanted to offer our final event of the year, a Gala Dinner Holiday Dance party at the DoubleTree Hilton jointly arranged by AMCHAM with the fellowship of the British-Luxembourg Society and the Romania Luxembourg Business Forum. Unfortunately, the low numbers of signups were by far not sufficient in order to finalize this event, so we regretfully had to cancel and hopefully we can relaunch next year.
Our interview this week is with Benoit Nevouet, the head of the Bank of America branch office in Luxembourg. It is always pleasant news for us to hear another international company has opened a Luxembourg branch office. I have also already warmly welcomed the Bank of America to Luxembourg and into AMCHAM as a Chartered member. Now I am pleased to interview them and give them space to tell their story. Enjoy reading the interview!
Thank you for being our friends and family! We are pleased to serve and support you!
With my respect and very best wishes,
Paul Schonenberg
