Dear AMCHAM members, partners and friends,
Welcome to the 141st AMCHAM Newsletter!
We are very pleased this week to welcome Cisco as our newest sponsor, joining PWC, Deloitte, PM and Losch as the sponsors of our AMCHAM digital weekly Newsletter and sincerely thank each of these wonderful companies for their public service contribution to help us ensure we are able to provide the English speaking business community with the actionable information you all need to understand and successfully function in the Luxembourg eco system. We started this initiative when it became obvious during the early days of COVID that our English speaking community (and our Luxembourg friends!) were just not getting the quality and range of information in the English language needed to be well informed and make the right decisions as needed here in Luxembourg. We have tried to improve our product every week since our first launch and are pleased to have reached a distribution of more than 6,000 weekly recipients, all of whom have signed up and satisfied the GDPR requirements to get our Newsletter.
From the start, we have been committed to publish this weekly digital newsletter as a public service and do not require our recipients to pay subscription fees nor to be AMCHAM members. Likewise, we publish the news that we think you, our readers, are interested to see and never charge any of the people providing content any fees for publishing the news they give to us. On this basis of service to our broader community of English speakers, we very much appreciate our five sponsors and most sincerely thank them for their financial help which allows us to give you access to the Luxembourg business and lifestyle news you need, and want! Our BIG THANKS again, to Cisco, Deloitte, Losch, PM and PWC.
FYI, there is room for one more corporate sponsor for this service project… If you are interested, or know someone you would like to suggest, please contact daniel@amcham.lu and our Daniel McKenzie will be happy to explain all of the details and do his best to welcome your proposed company to join our weekly Digital Newsletter public service project.
And, if you are already a Newsletter recipient, please feel free to give us your feedback. We welcome your critiques, suggestion, criticisms and even any articles you would like to present to us for publication!
Our compliments to the winners of the just completed social elections. Our hope is that the people elected, regardless of whether or not they are union affiliated electees or independent representatives will put the interests of employees and their companies first. At the end of the day, the success of employees is linked to and can only be achieved if the companies they work for are successful. We urge labor and management to do everything in their collective power to ensure a stronger than ever partnership which serves both sides in a way which builds a resurgent stronger economy which attracts new companies and workers and builds Luxembourg’s reputation as the best European location for companies AND their employees to live and prosper!
In this regard, I have to admit that I am disappointed by the rather low rate of participation by the eligible international voters. I gently would like to point out that the social election electees have real power over business and labor relations. If you were eligible and did not vote, you left the decision on how the electees will act and participate in negotiations to someone else. I believe there is a possibility those electees will not think and act as you would like… and in this case, the fault is your own. Please in five year’s time, when we do these elections again, be more involved, and make sure you vote!
In a few months, we will hold elections for the European Parliament. And here again there is an opportunity for you to be involved picking those who will make decisions. AMCHAM plans to hold candidate town hall meetings to give voters the chance to know the issues and positions of candidates. We hope by so doing, we will be able to get the strong representation defending our Luxembourg needs and way of life! Please make sure to join us, be involved and vote!
As you look inside this newsletter, you will see we have, instead of an interview, presented three B Corp certified companies on our front page: Agilité, Ramborn and GOTOfreedom. Those three companies and AmCham members explain why this certificate is so important to them.
Along with a lot of interesting current and upcoming content and events… as well as another great cooking recipe from BiBi Wintersdorf, we hope you find us continuing to be successful to inform, entertain and serve you.
Thank you for your time, your attention and your engagement with AMCHAM!
With respect and our very best wishes,
Paul Schonenberg
