How has this program evolved over time.
Created with the intention of helping the Luxembourg businesses, and the local economy after a difficult period (Covid) that changed the habits and minds to online shopping and less foot traffic in stores.
From the early days the program has had many transformations, that have also accompanied the increasing request for cards, and increasing interest in our Members Benefits Card program. Initially the names on cards were hand-written. As the demand grew, then a card printer was bought and gave it a smarter presentation. The initial amount of entitled cards per member raised , as mentioned above.
That is on the operational side. The sales teams and MBC program lead, made efforts in contacting its members and proposing the cards and the benefits of adhering and having their employees. In the early years the cards had an expiration date and had to be requested again the following year. This is not the case anymore and has been an upgraded and cards don’t have an expiration date anymore.
The main concern was getting the trust of reliable partners and having them trust the program. Cold calling was the initial approach and then followed by emails, confirming, the seriousness of our intentions and explaining to stores and business owners that the program was free for them.
All promotions or products would be showcased on AmCham site, and in the weekly newsletter.
AmCham’s name, reputation of seriousness and professionalism , was recognised by partners, whilst for other businesses the first contact was surprising and trustworthy and a means for AmCham to get to touch a wider audience. We are happy to have created a bond with many partners. After Work Drinks events have been organised with partners, where we showcase the partners to a greater audience.
Once a year AmCham has a Partner breakfast, the last two years have been in the city center, at Pizza Hut.
At this event we unite our partners in a friendly “Pizza for Breakfast” event, in a light hearted moment, that puts the MBC partners in contact with AmCham representatives and other MBC partners. Some partners only know of your names and phone exchanges or email. So it is a welcome opportunity to be face to face with new faces and a little chat and foment AmCham’s engagement and an opportunity to networking amongst peers. At this event, AmCham welcomes a representative of the Government from the economic areas, who gives an update status on ways to move forward and how Luxembourg can help. Followed by a Q&A session open to all present.
How will this program change in 2026 with the phone app?
We will be able to offer an unlimited number of MBC cards. Currently we have approximatively 35,000 affiliated individuals, including spouses and partners, allowing us to reach 70,000 individuals.
The new app will be super helpful and easy to use for finding brands and promotions right at your fingertips.
The annual winter catalog will get incorporated into the application.
Additionally, monthly offers will be accessible within the app.
No plastic card is needed anymore.
In the subsequent phase, you will find our newsletter, events, and digital library integrated into the app, in addition to our discount program.
How and why do you expect the membership to grow in 2026?
AmCham Members Benefits Club, (AMBC) will continue to integrate reputable businesses (called MBC Partners), and be on the constant look out for new opportunities with the intention of raising the opportunity for deals/bargains for the Cardholders and more foot traffic into the partner’s stores/business whilst creating awareness of these opportunities to a wider circle.
What are the plans for the new Digital library? How is this aligned with the MBC program?
Only MBC card holders will get access to the app.
The digital library, managed by our RTD committee, will offer a blend of valuable information and training courses. There is an increasing demand for affordable training opportunities outside of regular working hours.
The digital library will provide access to the following topics:
• language courses
• certified online trainings about the financial sector
• Doing business in Luxembourg Book (DBIL) in different languages
• conferences
• workshops
• and much more
