Dear AmCham members, partners and Friends,
Welcome to AmCham newsletter number 195! I can’t believe that we have been doing this for more than 4 years! With over 8,000 subscribers, I believe we have been successful giving you, our readers in the English-speaking international community of Luxembourg (and around the world!) — a valuable resource and service. Always remember, we are not doing this to make any profit! We do this to serve and inform to help Luxembourg and our expat focused business community audience be strong and successful. We encourage you to write to us (Paul@amcham.lu) whenever you have corrections, critiques and suggestions (your praise and compliments are always appreciated as well!). We best serve you when we know what you think, like, need and want.
I want to start out this week by revisiting our recent AmCham Thanksgiving. Yesterday I appreciated to read the excellent and insightful event review published by Pierre-Yves Lanneau Saint-Léger, the editor of Forbes Luxembourg, with an additional photo gallery provided by Sonja Holper. I appreciate Pierre-Yves for figuring out and fully explaining what we in AmCham were promoting at our Gala. In addition to great food and drinks in a stunning setting in the middle of Luxembourg city with such a distinguished crowd of friends, we celebrated our vibrant international expat business community who have enormously contributed to make Luxembourg strong and successful since the end of the Second World War by and through the Transatlantic Trade and Investment partnership. This theme praising the highly successful Transatlantic Trade and Investment partnership being the key to our post world war, present and future economic prosperity was firmly stated with friendship by both Minister Roth and Ambassador Feinberg in their strong and mutually complimentary dinner speeches!
We reinforced this theme of Transatlantic Trade and partnership this past Tuesday with our very well attended over 200 guest event at Deloitte Headquarters. My sincere thanks to John Psaila and his team for sponsoring this event which featured US Ambassador Feinberg, Luxembourg Ambassador Bintner, and Thibaut L’Ortye from AmCham EU who presented the 2025 Transatlantic Trade and Investment report, which we in AmCham.lu are proud to co-sponsor. We will publish more news about this study and event in our AmCham Newsletter next week.
Our interview and major Newsletter theme this week is our AmCham member benefits card (MBC) program which is principally managed by our long-term AmCham employee Jorge Rodrigues. We set up this program during Covid to help good local retail stores who needed foot traffic and new customers but did not have the money to pay for commercial advertising . In return and to encourage the thousands of employees working for AmCham affiliated companies to shop at these local retailers, we asked the retailers to agree to give discounts to AmCham affiliated employees and their parters/spouses who proved their association with us by showing plastic AmCham MBC cards. This has been a low-cost win/win deal for both employees and the partner retailers, which we are pleased to run for the benefit of both the retail stores and our affiliated employees and their partner/spouses. Please read and enjoy Jorge’s excellent informative interview and feel free to contact him (Jorge@amcham.lu) or Sonja Holper (Sonja@amcham.lu).
Also accompanying this interview, we are extremely pleased to launch a video prepared by our wonderful Marketing committee which they have created to announce the launch of the next version of our MBC program as we replace the current plastic MBC ID card with a DIGITAL TELEPHONE APP in early 2026! Our Marketing team worked very hard to develop this video clip. Our special thanks to Troy Bankhead, Cédric Delahaye, Charlotte de Vreeze and Cândida Nedog for this wonderful video which we are looking forward to frequently use to promote our updated MBC program coming in early 2026!
Please join us on 10 December for our Christmas Market Celebration with Jacques Schneider!
With all my respect and thanks!
