At a time when many employees struggle with work-life balance, the interest to work from home is growing. This is particularly true in our country as we face longer and longer traffic commuter time. While the technical challenges around working from home are slowly disappearing, the employment law challenges remain real, notably against the background of the stringent framework laid down in the collective agreement on teleworking (télétravail), which is mandatory pursuant to a Grand-Ducal Regulation of 15th March 2016. On top of this, Luxembourg’s geographical situation and employment of foreign commuters can trigger teleworking-induced complex income tax and social security considerations.

So, who is eligible, what are the rules and how can employers and employees implement fair and legal solutions?
