FinTech Awards Luxembourg now open for applications

Digital Lëtzebuerg, the ICT Cluster, KPMG Luxembourg, the LHoFT, LuxInnovation and Maison Moderne have opened applications for the 2017 edition of the FinTech Awards Luxembourg.

Georges Bock, KPMG Head of Tax and a founding partner of the awards, explained:
“We were bowled over by the success of last year’s awards — winners like Governance.io went on to secure €2m in funding and bag several new clients among the banks and asset managers present at the awards ceremony. Since the first edition, Luxembourg has made great headway in the FinTech space, not least by opening a dedicated FinTech platform, the Luxembourg House of Fintech (the LHoFT). This organisation will join us and our partners in organising the awards this year. With their help, we expect to see even more FinTech success stories emerge amongst our future winners.”

Nasir Zubairi, CEO of the LHoFT, commented:
“The LHoFT’s mission is to drive FinTech innovation in Luxembourg. Collaboration within the ecosystem is a critical part of achieving our goals. These awards are a shining example of how partnerships help push Luxembourg’s FinTech agenda forward. I’m delighted that we are taking a leading role in this national initiative. The 2016 edition was a fantastic first step in positioning the Luxembourg FinTech community, and I believe we can achieve even greater outcomes with the 2017 awards, building international awareness and attracting high quality FinTech firms to Luxembourg.”

Applications open until 1 May

Applications for the awards opened on 1 March and will close on 1 May. Fifteen startups will then be selected to go through to the Competition Day in June. At this event, the original fifteen startups will be whittled down to seven finalists who will compete for three major awards: Giant of FinTech, Warrior of FinTech and Master of FinTech. The winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremony and Afterparty on the KPMG Plage beach.

€50,000 in prize money, sponsored by Digital Lëtzebuerg

The startups will be competing for prizes designed to help them grow and develop their company in Luxembourg. Prizes include €50,000, four months of hosting at the Technoport; a trip to Silicon Valley; and a one-year membership of the KPMG Hub for Entrepreneurship (the Khube).
